Who we are
HearTap is an independent app, published by the developer listed on its App Store and Google Play pages. For anything about your data, email [email protected].
What we collect
Learning data: your answers (the word played, the word you tapped, how fast), sessions, Ear Score, streak, XP and settings. Account, if you create one: your email, your name if you give it, and a sign-in ID from Apple or Google (Sign in with Apple lets you hide your email). Purchases: whether you own Pro, confirmed with the App Store or Google Play; we never see your payment details. Feedback you send: your message, the sound you reported, and your email if you add it. Usage and diagnostics: the screens and features you use, errors, and basic device details (model, system version, app version). HearTap never uses your microphone, contacts or precise location.
Where it lives
Everything is stored on your device first. With an account, a copy syncs to our servers so you can switch devices.
How we use it
To run the app and sync your progress, to rank your Ear Score, to answer your feedback, to fix bugs and improve the app, and to show ads to free users. We do not sell your data.
Who processes it
Supabase (accounts, sync, feedback, rankings), RevenueCat (Pro purchase status), PostHog (analytics and error reports), Google AdMob (ads) and, if you choose them, Apple or Google sign-in. They process data only to provide their service to us and must protect it at least as well as this policy does. Some of them process data in the United States. Our analytics and ad partners may infer an approximate location (country or city) from your IP address.
Ads
Free users now and then see a full-screen ad when leaving the results screen. Ads come from Google AdMob and are limited to content suitable for all ages. On iPhone, we ask for your permission through App Tracking Transparency before AdMob can access your device's advertising identifier. If you decline, ads are still shown, but the advertising identifier is not sent with ad requests. On Android, AdMob can use your device's advertising ID, which you can reset or delete in Android Settings. In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, Google's consent form asks for your choice before any ad is requested; change it any time in You > About > Ad privacy choices. Our ad partner never receives your progress. Pro removes ads and stops ad-related data sharing with AdMob. How Google uses data: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites
Rankings
Your latest Ear Score is stored with a random ID for this install (no account, no name) so the share card can say how you compare with other listeners. Only totals are ever read back.
Analytics
Usage events are tied to a random ID for this install and, once you sign in, to your account ID, so we can understand how the app is used. They are never shared with advertisers.
How long we keep it
Data on your device stays until you delete the app. Account data and synced progress stay until you delete your account; deleting erases them from our servers and everything in HearTap on this device immediately. The ranking keeps one anonymous score per install, replaced each time you play. Feedback is kept until we have dealt with it. Analytics and error events are kept for up to 12 months.
Your choices
Tracking: change it any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking. Advertising ID: reset or delete it any time in Android Settings (Privacy > Ads, or Google > Ads). Reminders: turn them off in the app or in your phone's Settings. Account: delete it from the Account screen at any time. For a copy of your data, or to delete your feedback or ranking data, email [email protected]; we reply within 30 days.
Children
HearTap is made for teens and adults learning English. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us data, email us and we will delete it.
Changes
We will update the date above when this policy changes, and tell you in the app about anything important.
